Why aren’t all of your products in stores?

It is up to each individual chain to determine which varieties they want to stock. Stores do listen to customer requests, especially when they come in large volumes, so we encourage customers to talk to their local store manager and request more varieties on the shelf. If you’re looking for the new Culinary Collection, please note that distribution is limited at this time as this new item is still rolling out in grocery stores.If you’re looking for the 21oz Better Than Bouillon product, this item is only available at Costco at this time

Yes! You can shop our website to purchase your favorite Better Than Bouillon products directly:www.betterthanbouillon.com/our-products/. We are only able to ship orders within the continental United States at this time.

Where can I buy Better Than Bouillon in Canada?

Unfortunately, we cannot ship orders from our website to Canada at this time. Our distributor inCanada that sells our product in the retail size is Star Marketing. You can reach them at 778-574-0778, and they should be able to let you know where you can find our products in Canada.

What is Better Than Bouillon?

Better Than Bouillon is a concentrated food base made of cooked meat and/or vegetables that can be used in a variety of ways - from making a simple soup to adding flavor to your favorite meal.

How many servings are in one jar?

Each 8oz jar of Better Than Bouillon contains about 38 one teaspoon servings. Each 21oz jar contains about 100 one teaspoon servings.

Do you make larger jars?

Yes, we recommend you try our new 21oz jars for even more Better Than Bouillon! Our 21oz jars are available at Costco in the following flavors: Organic Reduced Sodium Chicken, Organic Reduced Sodium Beef and Organic Reduced Sodium Vegetable.

The lid label of my product is damaged or torn.

We do not recommend use of Better Than Bouillon Food Bases that have removed or torn vertical labels. The two small vertical labels that attach the lid label to the jar label should be intact when purchasing, indicating that the product is safe to use.

The top didn’t pop when I opened the jar.

We do not vacuum-seal our products, so you will never hear a popping sound. If the safety seal is still intact around the outside and the “Best By” date has not passed, then the product is still safe to use.

It is darker/lighter than normal

Better Than Bouillon does get darker when it's stored. The change in coloration is due to every jar of Better Than Bouillon starting with real meat, seafood or vegetables, resulting in color changes that are natural and will happen over time. This is perfectly normal and is safe to consume as long as the product is used before the Best By date.

Why are there particles in my Better Than Bouillon that do not completely dissolve?

Better Than Bouillon is produced using ground meats and vegetables, so it is expected that there will be small particles of these ingredients within the product.

What is the shelf life?

The shelf life for Better Than Bouillon is two years and starts from the date of manufacture. If the product has passed the Best By date printed on top of the lid, we do not advise use, as we cannot guarantee performance.

How is the Best By date formatted?

For our U.S. products, the expiration date is formatted as Day/Month/Year. For our Canada labeled products, the expiration date is formatted as Year/ Month/ Day.

Does it need to be refrigerated?

Yes, Better Than Bouillon should be refrigerated after opening. For any jar of Better Than Bouillon that is older than the Best By date printed on top of the lid and/or was not put in the refrigerator after opening, we cannot guarantee the quality or performance, and we advise that it should be discarded.

Can I freeze Better Than Bouillon for longer shelf life?

Do not freeze Better Than Bouillon.

How much Better Than Bouillon do I use to make one cup of broth?

One teaspoon of Better Than Bouillon dissolved in 8 oz. of hot or boiling water is equal to one 8 oz. can of broth.

Can the bases be consumed without cooking or dissolving in water?

Better Than Bouillon bases are not considered ready to eat. All of our bases must be dissolved in warm or boiling water or cooked with heat in order to be considered safe for consumption.

Can I use your product past the Best By date?

We advise discarding any product that has passed its Best By date. We cannot guarantee the taste or performance of the product once the date has passed.

Does Better Than Bouillon contain any major allergens?

Per USDA/FDA guidelines, it is required that we list all major allergens on the label. You can find all ingredient and nutrition information listed for each product on our website.

Is Better Than Bouillon suitable for vegetarians or vegans?

Please check the ingredient statement on our products to see if the ingredients match your dietary preferences. Our vegan bases all feature the Certified Vegan logo on the label. Our certified vegan flavors include Seasoned Vegetable, Organic Seasoned Vegetable, Roasted Garlic, Sautéed Onion, No Chicken and No Beef.

Is Better Than Bouillon gluten free?

No, Better Than Bouillon is made in a facility where wheat ingredients are housed. We do not test our Better Than Bouillon products or ingredients contained therein for gluten, so we cannot certify that any ingredient is gluten free.

Does Better Than Bouillon contain MSG?

We do not add MSG to any of our Better Than Bouillon products. Any added MSG is required to be listed within the ingredients statement by regulation and is never hidden. Please refer to the product label.

Is Better Than Bouillon made in a peanut-free facility?

No, the Better Than Bouillon facility is not considered a peanut-free facility because the breakroom in our facility contains vending machines with products/candy that DO contain peanuts. Other than that, our manufactured products do not contain peanuts. Per USDA/FDA guidelines, it is required that we list major allergens on the label.

Is Better Than Bouillon made in a tree nut-free facility?

Coconut is present in our facility but not used in our Better Than Bouillon products.

What is the source of yeast in Better Than Bouillon?

The yeast extract that we use in Better Than Bouillon is from baker’s yeast [Saccharomyces cerevisiae].

Do you have a salt-free or sugar-free product?

No, we do not offer salt- or sugar-free Better Than Bouillon products. We do offer several reduced-sodium products, including Reduced Sodium Chicken and Reduced Sodium Beef.

Do you have any kosher or halal-certified products?

No, we do not currently produce any kosher or halal-certified Better Than Bouillon bases.

What percentages of ingredients are organic within Organic Better Than Bouillon?

Our Certified Organic Better Than Bouillon contains at least 95% organic ingredients.

What is the “natural flavor” listed in your ingredients?

According to the FDA, terms “natural flavor” or “natural flavoring” are defined as “the flavoring constituents derived from a spice, fruit or fruit juice, vegetable or vegetable juice, edible yeast, herb, bark, bud, root, leaf or similar plant material, meat, seafood, poultry, eggs, dairy products, or fermentation products thereof, whose significant function in food is flavoring rather than nutritional.” Top eight allergens will never be listed under natural flavor.
