How do you brighten it?
I've had greying hair for about 6 years now... white streaks at the front and gradually greying all over but still dark underneath and at the back and it looks very dull. I was hoping to go beautifully silver (I'm mid 50s) but it isn't going to happen any time soon and I feel washed out and the ends tend to go yellowy (from my ghds I think)
I've been anti colouring it but now I'm ready for a change... but what? I'm quite sallow, yellowy skinned (really selling myself here) and when I once went blonde... it was awful! I don't really want to go back to full head of colour really as a) it took years to grow out and b) I can't face all the 'OOOH you've dyed your hair' comments (thanks Mum) so am thinking maybe highlights? Low lights? I dont even know what to ask for!
(I'd also like a change of style, but have no idea there either)
Photo attached for any suggestions!

Any of the purple shampoos and/or conditioners should do the trick. Which one works best for you will depend on the texture of your hair. I really liked the one Pantene did for a while in their “biology” range, but I think it’s been discontinued. The John Frieda shimmering silver was okay, but I found it made my hair a bit greasy, but my mum loves it.

I'm heading towards the same issue as you so following the thread but I wanted to say that I think your hair looks really nice!

What about grey blending? That way you don’t have to have so much upkeep and the grey that comes through won’t look out of place, an easy transition to full grey one day!
style wise, I think a long bob would look really chic.. something like this!

Choccyoclocky The one on the right is my girl, the one in front is her Mum... they are Eurasiers, a rare breed and they are amazing dogs, if you like dogs with opinions and a mind of their own

Your hair is a lovely colour. Purple shampoo and conditioner. A glossing treatment or the loreal wonder smoother thing.
A sharp bob looks good with your hair colour

Definitely purple shampoo to brighten up the silver and get rid of yellow - whatever brand you choose it needs to be REALLY bright purple - food dye levels of intensity - not just a purple coloured cream.
A few very light highlights around your face would liven your complexion up a bit. Like in the photo @WedTheBed posted. The colour I have is pearl, which is just a tiny bit creamy rather than cool like platinum, so works with my yellow-toned complexion.
