C’mon guys, now’s your chance to try out a little nail painting. [Photo: Twitter/YGAP Official]
You might think it’s odd if one of your male work colleagues rocks up to the office with one of his nails painted blue, or if your housemate suddenly asks to borrow so of your polish, but it’s all for good cause.
It’s a symbolic gesture, to help support and raise awareness of a global movement hoping to stop violence against children.
And, thanks to the campaign’s accompanying hashtag #polishedman, it’s fast flooding all of the social media platforms – just like the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge before it.

The drive was started by Elliot Costello, the CEO of YGAP, after he visited Cambodia. During his trip, Costello met a girl called Thea who painted one of his nail’s blue – inspiring the trend.
The nail painting is aimed at men, because a staggering 90 per cent of the world’s sexual violence committed against children is by men. And one in five children are affected.

During October, men are encouraged to upload a pic of their painted nails to social media using the hashtag and set up a fundraising page – the proceeds of which go towards increasing awareness of the issue and providing medical care for children who’ve been abused.
