Keto Desserts to Buy (won't raise blood sugar - diabetic friendly) (1)

This is a list of keto desserts you can buy.

Some keto dessert recipes are complicated and sometimes time-consuming to make. Don’t worry, I’ve compiled a list of keto desserts you can buy online and find in stores.

Also, when referring to these desserts as KETO, you can also substitute Keto for Diabetic Friendly. These are desserts that are diabetic friendly in addition to being Keto Approved.

What makes a dessert Keto?

Keto desserts are considered Keto Approved when there’s ZERO SPIKE to blood sugar. This means the ingredients in the product are void of carbohydrates that raise blood sugar. If you consume food that raises blood sugar you’re inhibiting the ability for the body to create Ketones. Ketone production happens when blood sugar is regulated and carbohydrate consumption is extremely low.

Here’s an example of a few products that are marketed as “Keto” tested via CGM:

As you can see, (even when fasted / breaking a fast) the Caramel Sauce from Cardnl had no impact to blood sugar. However, Choc Zero and Smart Sweets both dramatically impact blood sugar similar to products that contain high levels of carbohydrates/sugars. Consumers should NOT trust labeling or marketing tactics. What’s even worse: I purposefully ate a high protein and high fat dinner prior to consuming the Choc Zero. High protein and fat consumption typically helps regulate carbohydrate impact… with Choc Zero it didn’t matter. I’ve tested both of these products in several variations. If you’re trying to regulate your blood sugar, avoid these products!

What’s a CGM?

A CGM is a continuous glucose monitor. A CGM is a lifesaver and was developed for both type 1 and type 2 diabetics. Rather than having to constantly prick your finger and test on a glucometer, a CGM provides data in almost real time via the device on your arm or abdomen. The CGM relays data back to your smart phone. It also has the functionality to administer insulin as needed. Simply amazing.

I’m not a diabetic but I’ve been using a CGM (off and on) since 2018. The knowledge and data you can receive about your food choices and activity level from 2 weeks of CGM use is priceless. I’ve written two posts reviewing Keto products and lifestyle choices + I tested the MyPlate recommendations (spoiler: MyPlate failed miserably). Take a look:

  • I wore a CGM and tested the US Government’s Recommendations
